Dr.Shainna
Mental health clinician, educator, & advocate
Hi! My name is Shainna (Shay-na) and I am dedicated to helping others understand the important role of mental health in fostering happiness, fulfillment, and overall wellness. I am a licensed mental health counselor (MH15290), a nationally certified counselor (717226), and an approved clinical supervisor (ACS 3047). Beyond credentials I am a wife, mother, and friend who actively strives for growth and balance. When I'm not working, you can find me filling my cup bonding with my family and friends, practicing yoga, exercising, learning new lessons, and traveling the globe.
It is a privilege to assist individuals in their mental wellness growth journeys.
In counseling, I utilize a strengths-based tailored approach that hones individuality, purpose, and hope as catalysts for mental wellness. Most commonly, I work with individuals who are working through anxiety, trauma, depression, and identity/cultural concerns. Above all, I enjoy working with clients who wish to better understand themselves and the world around them as they aspire to improve their overall well-being
I believe in the essentiality of mental health education and I am dedicated to helping others improve their mental health knowledge on and beyond the counseling couch. This motivation propelled me to author The Self-Love Workbook., The Self-Love Workbook for Teens, and Luna Finds Love Everywhere: A Self-Love Book for Kids, The Self-Love Planner, and Designing Healthy Boundaries and create The Mental Wellness Practice Podcast. Additionally, I enjoy contributing to the field by serving on research teams, presenting at international mental health conferences, offering media commentary, and collaborating for public speaking events. As a mental health advocate, I also value the opportunity to contribute to communities, businesses, and organizations by offering mental health consultation services in the form of assessments, presentations, and interactive workshops.
I am truly grateful to have had my passion for mental wellness acknowledged, especially by receiving the Association for Specialists in Group Work's Al Dye Award, the Florida Counseling Association's Pete Fischer Humanitarian Award, and UCF's 30 under 30 distinction and Noble Knight award. However, the greatest accomplishment is the gift I witness when an individual recognizes the growth they have earned on their mental health journey.
